It's been a week now since Mom and Dad headed back to Michigan, but we are left with some wonderful memories of their visit to Utah. They both mentioned that this was their best and most relaxing vacation ever (along with Mom's best birthday ever). Perhaps it is because they had a free rental car and free hotel? Or maybe we are just amazing hostesses? Or perhaps, this was the first time in 50 years that Dad felt completely retired!
Here is a complete(ish) list of our events while they were here and a photo collage to commemorate their stay:
-
We drove to Golden Spike National Park where the Transcontinental Railroad met. Very cool!
-
Drove up to Idaho to say we had.
-
Visited Park City.
-
Toured some of the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Venues near Park City.
-
Drove around in the mountains and ate at a German resort.
-
Hosted a cool Halloween party.
-
Went to a rehearsal of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir at the Tabernacle at Temple Square.
-
Visited This is the Place Heritage Park where Brigham Young saw the valley.
-
The Cathedral of the Madeleine – a gorgeous building in Downtown Salt Lake City
-
Drove through Emigration Canyon, the way the Mormons came.
-
Looked around the University of Utah.
-
And that is only what we did with them. They also saw the Capitol, the Beehive House and BYU. Needless to say – we did Utah big time!
Congratulations to Cristin! You are the winner of our RAK from Friday. Please e-mail us at BopeS@aol.com with your address! Woo hoooooo! Here is what Cristin said about the most beautiful church that she has ever been in: "The prettiest church building that I've ever seen is actually the church that I attended when I was growing up. It was built in the 1800s and has beautiful paintings of saints across the cathedral ceiling that I used to stare at during Mass. It was small but beautiful."
Susan

I am so happy to hear that your parents had a great time. They saw more in Utah than I have and I grew up there.
I AM TAGGING YOU BOTH! This is the first time I have ever been tagged so I hope you will play along. It is a quick and easy tag.
Just go to my blog for the details.
Have a groovy week!
Shaun

Glad they got to do so much! I am jealous that I have not done that many Utah things, and I live here!
